Sarah Janssen   MSW, LCSW

Sarah has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for over twenty years. She earned her Masters of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed post graduate training at the Southeast Institute in Redecision Therapy. She has advanced training in trauma resolution, hypnosis, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy and Hakomi – a body-centered psychotherapy. In addition to providing psychotherapy both in English and Spanish for individuals, couples and families since 2003, she has worked as a clinical social worker in both inpatient and outpatient adult mental health settings. She has a strong interest in helping clients use the powerful connection between body, mind and spirit for growth and positive change. Sarah has lived overseas for over 5 years including two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Her travels have broadened her understanding and respect for traditional and cross-cultural healing practices and strengthened her belief in the universal resilience of the human spirit. She has an enthusiastic commitment to serving clients as they discover and come to trust their deeper inner Self.

Scott Janssen   MA, MSW, LCSW

Scott has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for over twenty years. He earned his Masters of Social Work from University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He was a clinical hospice social worker from 1993 to 2014. He has a background in existential, cognitive-behavioral, and somatic approaches to psychotherapy and has received advanced training in working with trauma survivors. He has extensive experience working with individuals and families facing chronic and terminal illness, grief and bereavement. Scott has studied the wisdom traditions of various cultures throughout the world and has special interests in the role of resilience and creativity, as well as the transpersonal and spiritual dimensions in healing. He frequently publishes articles on clinical social work and psychotherapy practice and is an Editorial Adviser for the magazine Social Work Today. Scott has spoken widely, including at national conferences, on issues related to aging, trauma, end-of-life care and working with veterans.
